Myles Clarke

Myles Clarke, Senior Music Engineer at Dolby Laboratories

After graduating from LIPA in 1999, Myles moved to London seeking studio work, and soon found himself at The Cocteau Twins studio, September Sound, and then to Metropolis Studios for a while, before settling down at Strongroom studio for the bulk of his Assistant Engineering. Across these studios Myles had the pleasure to work with such artists as Nick Lowe, Prodigy, Beta Band, Divine Comedy, Motörhead, Underworld, Pet Shop Boys, Heaven 17, Erasure, Mercury Rev, McAlmont and Butler, Placebo, Libertines, Steps and S Club 7 - quite a variety.

Moving onto full blown Engineering gigs led to a freelance session Pete Townshend’s Oceanic Studios, which became a full-time role. Myles then became freelance, running a programming suite in The Way Studios in Hackney. This saw Production, Engineering and Remix work with artists such as She Makes War, Slow Club, Metronomy, Kid Harpoon and Woman’s Hour, before realigning more with Eelpie Recordings.

Myles then moved onboard Grand Cru, the studio boat which had been previously moored outside the old studio and was now sitting in St Katherine’s Dock. In the 5 years running up to the Covid Pandemic, Grand Cru welcomed clients such as Guy Chambers, Beverly Knight, Fleur East, Years and Years, Sigma, Clean Bandit, Nothing But Thieves, Enter Shikari, The Wandering Hearts, Burna Boy.

Myles soon saw the possibilities for music in Atmos, and so when he visited LinkedIn, and saw the Senior Music Engineer at Dolby was advertised, it all seemed like fate…

The last three years have seen Myles being deeply involved in the role out for Dolby Atmos Music in Europe. Enabling many, many studios, leading workflow sessions and training with Producers, Mixers and Artists, liaison with Record Labels, Managers and Streaming Services.
